Budnick Converting Expands Capabilities with new 30” Rotary Die Cutting Press

Columbia, IL 11/11/2025 - Budnick Converting, Inc, a leading adhesive tape, foam, and specialty materials converter, announced the installation of a new 30-inch-wide multi-station, servo controlled rotary die cutting press at its Columbia, Illinois headquarters. This significant investment expands Budnick's converting capacity and brings new possibilities for customers requiring larger, more complex die-cut parts.

“This new 30-inch-wide, seven station, servo press expands Budnick’s rotary die cutting capabilities and offers a major competitive advantage. I love when a new machine hits the floor that solves problems and brings new options for our customers,” said Jeff Stetler, Budnick’s VP of Operations.

Previously limited to maximum rotary die cutting width of 18 inches, the 30-inch press will give appliance, automotive, medical, and other industrial manufacturers more design freedom and flexibility. Parts that once required secondary or slower processing can now be produced faster and more efficiently. Finished parts can be presented as individual pieces, sheets, or rolls, all with the precision and consistency of rotary die cutting.

This investment also provides cost reductions for customers. The press can laminate and die cut multiple materials in a single pass, increasing part output per run time while improving material utilization on larger parts.

Part quality improvements are notable as well. The press utilizes servo controlled unwinds, rewinds and die stations to control web tension, producing highly consistent and repeatable parts. Precise registration of individual servo stations ensures accurate alignment of cuts from multiple sensor inputs. Additionally, a CCD vision system provides auto tuning and part inspection with data collection capabilities.
