Engineering and developing new products is never easy and many times your original part design is not the optimal solution. To assist your efforts in developing new parts, quickly getting them to market, and saving money, your Budnick team offers extensive prototyping services to ensure you're using the best possible part for your need.
For production parts, we like to visit your facility or utilize technology to get a clear idea of what your engineering team is trying to accomplish as well as a thorough understanding of your operations team's needs.
This understanding is important as some parts must be put on from left to right only, or applied from top to bottom. Certain die cuts can be used on both sides of the part, and some parts have a left and a right side that require opposite cuts. Some parts have to be on rolls and some have to be on sheets to fit in the shelf of the work station. By working on the assembly line we can pin point a host of details that might affect whether the part ends up as a reject or not.
We understand that every little bit counts when it comes to the speed of the operator. We have laid out parts on a roll so that the operator can pick it up and apply it without changing hands or turning the part. Even scoring the liner so that it comes off with the left hand where the garbage can is kept, saves a step or two. A lot of the time quotas are high and time is short. We try to accommodate every single step of the process and our customers appreciate it immensely.
Specification Drawings and Market Solutions
Specification Drawings
Budnick has the ability to reverse engineer drawings and new parts from existing provided samples, or we can help create new specification drawings from your ideas. The Budnick project and prototyping teams have the experience and tools to help you create new solutions, and we are eager to help convert your ideas into solutions - Fast!
Market Solutions
On many occasions, the Budnick team has successfully completed the entire project cycle in as little as one week! The cycle includes receiving ideas, creating drawings, custom designing converting equipment, running prototypes, developing quality control processes, and initiating full-scale production. For more information, please view Budnick's
Prototyping Case Study.
Budnick has invested many computer numerically controlled (CNC) converting devices and machines that allow us to accept your drawings in many formats and run your initial prototypes before having to pay for permanent hard tooling. This capability allows you to perfect the product based on prototypes, so you never have to live with less than the optimal solution.
CNC Prototyping Services
Laser Cutting
Our laser cutter is embedded in our servo-controlled roll-to-roll die cutting press. This machine offers very unique capabilities by combining laser cuts and hard tooling for the same parts. It allows us to provide prototype parts with very tight tolerances, microperforations, removed kerfs, and can even cut through material that otherwise cannot be milled. The laser cutter also helps us convert very large parts like plane or bus masking. The broad material and size range provides you with the design freedom to create better solutions - all without the hard tooling costs.
Waterjet/Abrasivejet Cutting
Sending either water or a garnet/water mixture through a tiny orifice at the speed of sound is a highly effective cutting method for nearly any material. Our Water/Abrasivejet features a large cutting bed with traveling heads and is perfect for cutting prototype or production parts from sheeted material. Because it is a CNC machine, it is quick and easy to transfer drawings into parts in a variety of sizes. Waterjet cutting is ideal for thick foams, hard plastics, most metals, and alleviates thermal stress issues sometimes associated with laser cutting.
XYZ High Speed Plotter
This large vacuum table handles sheeted and rolled goods while cutting through a wide variety of material or even kiss-cutting parts down to their liners. The very high speed traveling cutting head utilizes a wide variety of routing and cutting blades that can be customized to fit your specific material and project. The CNC programming and versatility of this machine makes it an ideal solution for getting your prototyped parts fast!
Electron Beam Image Printing
Our EBI printing system allows us to produce bar codes, variable information, and sequential number printing. It is perfect for when your print information varies, making print plate costs prohibitive, due to its Computer Numerically Controlled printing that requires no printing plate.
