General Purpose Polyester/Silicone Tape

General Information
8951 is a 2.8mil, polyester tape, primarily used to break flash in composite bonding as well as splicing silicone and non-silicone coated paper and films. Silicone adhesive allows for high temperature applications.

Adhesive Tape Features
  • Designed to provide clean removal during masking operations involving high temperatures and pressure
  • Polyester film retains flexibility and thermal resistance to help reduce failures due to cracking
  • Abrasion, chemical and thermal resistance to help reduce failures due to backing deterioration
  • Silicone adhesive helps reduce failure due to softening, oozing, and adhesive transfer
Adhesive Tape Applications
  • Masking edges of overlap seams in metal bonding process where excess epoxy flows onto tape
  • Clean-up is complete upon tape removal
  • Cleanly removes from stainless steel, anodized aluminum and glass after a four-hour bake cycle at 350&degF
  • Holding parts or vacuum bags during bonding process
  • Splicing silicone treated materials, including paper, liners and films
  • One hour photo lab splicing tape

  • Masking parts in an anodizing process
