General Information

3M 4462 is a 31.0 mil. double coated polyethylene foam tape with 745 rubber adhesive ideal for many joining, mounting, gasketing, and sealing applications involving irregular surfaces. 4462W is a white colored tape that combines a conformable closed cell foam with a rubber adhesive that provides high initial adhesion to a variety of surfaces including polyethylene and polypropylene. This tape uses the 745 rubber, pressure-sensitive adhesive that provides excellent initial tack and adhesion to a wide variety of surfaces, including many low surface energy plastics.

Adhesive Tape Features

Static shear 1/2 in. squared overlap will hold 1000 gms. at 72°F for 10,000 min.
Thickness tolerance: 25.0 mil. - 45.0 mil.
Thickness nominal: 31.0 mil.
Dynamic shear: 55 lb./in. squared
Not recommended for direct exposure to UV light
Specially formulated for many indoor general purpose mounting and joining applications where moderate temperature and shear performance is required
No apparent degradation when exposed to splash testing of typical hydrocarbon solvents
No cracking when flexed around a 1/4 in. mandrel at -20°F
