General Information

***3M discontinued this product & recommends 2693, 2380 or 231 as alternatives*** 2396 is a 7.6mil, high temperature Automotive OEM masking tape, primarily used for applications requiring aggressive holding capability. It offers excellent paint mask performance with high solids paints and clear coats used in the transportation industry. The special adhesive offers excellent adhesion to and easy removabiity from both metal bodies and plastic fascias. The high holding power of this tape resists the most stringent applications and bake cycles. Tape can be removed hot, warm or cold from most surfaces without adhesive transfer. Tape can be used for multiple bake cycles. It has excellent conformability and tear properties. The smoothness of the backing makes this tape very "user friendly." It has excellent paint flake resistance. The balanced construction with a stronger backing gives this tape easy removal properties without slivering. It should not be subjected to outdoor exposure or prolonged exposure to sunlight. Tape may become very difficult to remove.
