Budnick Converting Inc, of Columbia, Ill., is among two charities and 10 businesses who are winners of TORCH Awards for exceptional ethical business practices and customer service from the Better Business Bureau (BBB) Serving Eastern Missouri and Southern Illinois.
Ann Wegmann, president of Budnick, said the company got its start in the tape and adhesives business when customers asked her father, Ed “Bud” Schwartz, if he could include a roll of electrical tape in their orders. Over the years, customers began asking for more and more custom-cut and printed tape and foam products.
"It became a niche," said Wegmann, who took over as president in 2004. "Today we sell mostly all tape and converting services."
There are literally thousands of products, most of them custom-made. “We try to communicate very well to everyone that our success depends on always being ethical and honest in all of our dealings,” Wegmann said.
